Delhi High Court order Union Govt., KIO and IOA to resolve the issue Karate Team Participation in Asian Games.

The Sports Ministry and Indian Olympic Association hide many things in the courts, due to which even the court is not able to give the right decision.

Last month, a petition was filed in the Delhi High Court on behalf of a player practicing karate that since there is no karate federation in India recognized by the Sports Ministry, a committee should be formed to select the Indian karate team for the Asian Games.  And I should also be given a chance to participate in the selection.

Even the court has given the decision, read the article shared earlier for the role.  Now onwards...

When the whole selection process started going wrong strating from the selection committee, the former players who participated in the Asian Games also warned the Sports Ministry, SAI and the Indian Olympic Association that you are doing wrong and sidelining the letters of the World Karate Federation and the rules of the IOC.  Finally some players who came in first 8 rank in Asia approached Delhi High Court and revealed before the Court that the team selection by SAI, IOA and Sports Ministry is completely wrong and from selection committee to selection process all is against the rules of the World Karate Federation. It was brought to the notice of the Honorable Court by the petitioners that the World Karate Federation had suggested to the IOA and the Sports Ministry not to make such selections citing the IOC Charter and the Olympic Council of Asia's letter that the Karate India Organization is the only body in India which is authorized and approved for the selection of the Indian team.  The truth which was hidden by the Sports Ministry and the Indian Olympic Association came before the Court and the Hon'ble Court passed the order on 10th July that

"the Union of India, Karate India Organization (KIO) and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) are directed to sit together to find out solution to the issue so that a team can represent the country in the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China. Let the meeting be held on or before 13.07.2023."

Quoting sources, the news is that the petitioners themselves have conveyed the order of the court to the Sports Ministry, the Indian Olympic Association and the Karate India Organization.  After this, the Karate India Organization has also taken initiative on its behalf and has sent a proposal to the Sports Ministry and the Indian Olympic Association for an early meeting.

It may be noted that the last date for team entry in the Asian Games is July 15 and the court has posted the matter for further hearing on July 17.

By the way, on July 10 itself, the Ministry of Sports has issued rules and criteria to participate in the Asian Games, according to which only players up to the 8th rank in Asia can be made part of the Indian team and the players whom SAI has selected with controversies, none of those players have played in the Asian competition.

Now what happens next and whether the Indian karate team will be able to participate in the Asian Games remains to be seen.  Indian Sports Ministry and IOA should at least now take the right decision considering the player's future.

One thing to note in this whole matter is that the court has rejected the claims of all the so-called Indian Karate Associations other than the Karate India Organization, in which the main ones are AIKF, KAI, NKF etc.  Because it is clearly written in the order that Government of India, Indian Olympic Association and Karate India Organization should sit and find a way, in which there is no mention of giving attention or invitation to any other Karate Association.
